In January 2007 in the beautiful Blue Mountains village of Blackheath, Australia's premier,
award-winning puppetry event, the "One Van" International Festival of Puppetry, will present an
exciting program with events over three days including shows and workshops for all ages,
master classes for puppeteers, film-screenings and a 2 day Mini Eco Expo on January 20 &
21. For the first time "One Van" has an overall topic: Climate Change/Global Warming with the
working title "Cool Ideas For A Hot Planet".

With ticket prices starting as low as $8 the festival and a range of activities provided for free,
the Festival is accessible to all people especially families with young children. It has provided
many children with their first experience of live theatre, and just as many adults with their first
experience of puppetry as an adult art form.

The performance program includes a superb line up of Australian talent including the Dreamer
in the Deep
by Richard Hart's Dream Puppets; Things with Wings by the Sydney Puppet
Theatre; Kate and the Devil, by traditional Czech puppeteer Lenka, and performances by
Dennis Murphy, Krinkl Theatre and famous Australian puppetry icon Richard Bradshaw. The
Saturday Evening Cabaret of Puppetry is a signature event of the Festival with a cornucopia of
short works by puppeteers. The Festival will explore a wide range of puppetry forms from
shadow puppetry to large scale outdoor puppets, from puppets in animation to performers who
combine theatre, puppetry & animation.

The Festival organisers are very pleased to include an entirely new art form in the 2007
program: Animation Films. There will be screenings of films each afternoon and also the
opportunity to meet this year's Festival Patron Anne Jolliffe, Australia's first female animator
and Blackheath resident.
