UNIMA Union Internationale de la Marionnette , is an international
organisation bringing together people from around the world to
contribute to the development of the art of puppetry, and to use it in
the pursuit of human values such as peace and mutual
understanding between peoples. The Australian Unima Centre was
founded in 1970. UNIMA Australia is the only puppetry organisation
to represent all puppeteers in Australia.

Four magazines are published per year with news of puppeteers,
puppet companies, international news,
puppet history,whats on etc. It also has a website
www.unima.org.au with plenty of puppetry information including
theatre, film and book reviews and philosophical and technical
articles

UNIMA is non-profit and work for UNIMA is all done by volunteers.

UNIMA Australia encourages all Australian puppeteers to join.

UNIMA Australia is working towards hosting a large international
puppetry festival in 2008.
